Beyond the Surface: Create nature-inspired designs

Experience a process-driven approach to art-making with this workshop. Co:Created by Mary Bernadette Lee. Participants will be guided through a series of activities to extract forms and patterns from items that they encounter in nature. Engage in close observations of the visual qualities of found objects as materials for art and design.

From Wardrobe to Wall: Eco-friendly Yarn Macrame

Inspired by the art of upcycling, local artist Izziyana Suhaimi creates artworks with environmental sustainability in mind. Participants will learn how to breathe life into old items by using them as art materials instead of discarding them. In this workshop, participants will transform t-shirts into balls of yarn and create a macrame wall hanging.

Bichromate Printing

Bichromate printing is a 19th-century photographic printing process that produces a sublime painterly quality to photographic images. The technique utilizes a combination of pigments together with the light sensitivity of dichromates to produce multi-colored. Participants will engage in risk-taking through art.

Cyanotype: Printmaking with the Sun

Dive into the world of alternative processes and make a one-of-a kind cyanotype! Participants will to create their own cyanotype prints and understand the theories behind the age-old process. The outcomes are highly customisable – choose between paper, fabric, bag or even have your own photos printed! Expect lots of fun under the sun!

Pinhole Camera Making & Darkroom Printing

See the world in a different light through a pinhole camera! Travel back in time and enjoy the process of making your own handcrafted camera and developing images in a “darkroom”. In this workshop participants will learn about key concepts in photography such as exposure, basic darkroom skills and the anatomy of a camera.

Camera Obscura Making with Found Objects

Learn how to create your own camera obscura with everyday objects like food containers, boxes or even an entire room.Through understanding the basic principles such as the anatomy of a camera, participants of this workshop will find that the possibilities offered from a DIY camera are limitless; even different surfaces can be used for the record of light.
